Are you actually open?
We will be reopening House of Games, the Board Games Hub on 17th July. House of Games will be premiering its first Escape Room on 13th August.
How do I book and pay?
All bookings are done online using our automated booking system which allows payment by card. If there are any problems with the system, call us on 02477 921931 and we will assist you over the phone. Please note that our phone line is not always manned and that we do not accept walk-in bookings. For all last minute games where online booking is not an option, please call us on the number above.
Can I pre-book an escape room before you open?
Yes! Our bookings open on Sunday 27th June and you can book you slot through our booking platform.
Can I book more than 6 players?
Yes, but you need to be split into teams of a maximum of 6 players and book multiple slots/rooms/tables. We will be opening up Conspiracy to 8 players from later in the year, so drop us an email if you're looking to book up to 8.
Can I add more players at a later date?
You can add more players to your escape at any point by notifying us and paying the difference. If the additional players would take your group to above 8, we would need to split your booking across 2 slots/rooms/tables subject to availability. To speed up arrival times, please book additional players in advance rather than on arrival. Our games flex to the number of players so we need to know in advance to prepare the game.
Is there an age restriction?
There is an age restriction on both escape games and board games bookings as our facilities are unfortunately not suitable for young children.
For board games bookings our minimum age is 7 years of age with at least one adult over the age of eighteen per table.
Each of our escape games specifies a minimum age rating. Some of our escape games contain themes designed for adult gameplay and may be too intense for more sensitive young people. Small children are not permitted into our game rooms for safety reasons. Please view the game details to find out if the experience you wish to book is suitable for the age range of your group. Please note that all under 18's will need a chaperone on site. In most cases, under 18's will need a chaperone in the room - a non-playing one may be included for free at our discretion, please contact us to discuss.
Do you offer a discount for large parties?
If your group is larger than 20, we may be able to do you a discount on a weekday slot. Please send us an email to email@example.com for Escape Room bookings or firstname.lastname@example.org for Board Game bookings. Alternatively you can call us on 02477 921931.
Can I book food as well?
We currently offer a range of hot drinks and cakes to enjoy after your escape or with your board game. We will be offering a full range of packages from basic through to the full VIP treatment in the near future including food, additional activities, decor and other treats! Get in touch to find out what is currently available.
Can I cancel my booking or reschedule a new session?
Please see our refund policy within the terms and conditions for details. Most bookings can be cancelled if more than 28 days notice. Bookings more than 7 days away can usually be rescheduled.
Do you do Corporate Team Building?
Corporate Team Building, Venue Hire, Recruitment and Bespoke Activities will be offered by TimeSquared Ltd, our primary company. Please contact us on 02477 921931 or email@example.com or visit www.timesquaredltd.com.
Are gift certificates available?
Gift certificates are available for both escape games and board game tables, as well as combinations with or without drinks and cakes. They can be purchased on this site using the link at the top of the page.
How do I redeem a gift certificate?
Online gift certificates can be redeemed by entering the certificate’s code at checkout when making a purchase. Please note that you must enter the "-" in the code as well. Gift Certificates for refreshments can only be used at the venue and not through the booking widget. If you have a package deal including drinks or cakes, please contact us if you have any issues redeeming on a booking with extras.
What is the dress code?
We recommend you dress for comfort. Some of our escape games are quite physical so use your common sense and dress accordingly. When we play escape rooms, we sport jeans, trainers and a hoody! Please be aware that high heels are not advised for escape rooms.
Is there anywhere nearby for food or drink?
We offer a selection of hot and cold beverages and light snacks and refreshments on site. In the immediate area there are several restaurant and fast food options as well as a dessert parlour. We will also have party packages which include food, please enquire directly until these are launched on the site.
Can I bring my baby?
Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate babies within our escape game rooms as game play is intense, and lighting, sound levels and special effects are prominent in all games. Escape rooms are playable from the age of 10, but please see game specific ratings to ensure that the game you wish to book is suitable. The board game hub caters for ages 7 and over and our general facilities are not suitable for younger children.
Can I bring alcohol on site and do you sell it?
We are not licensed and no alcohol is permitted on site. You will need your wits about you to play our games, so we advise that you bring all your faculties! Please note that those under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted onto our facilities or may be asked to leave the site due to safety restrictions.
How do I find you?
Our street address will be 22 Abbey Street, Nuneaton CV11 5BT. Our entrance is in the arcade located on the high street next to Printer People. Please see the directions page for more details including pictures to help you find us, under the contact menu.
Where should we park?
There is a large car park at Abbey Street CV11 5NE within 30 seconds walk of our premises. Details can be found on our directions page under the contact menu.
Can I use public transport or other options?
Yes. We are within easy walking distance of Nuneaton bus or train station. The train station also features parking for bicycles should you wish to come by bike.
See 'Contact Us' for detailed information on rail, bus, cycle and walking options.
What time should I arrive?
We advise arriving around 10 minutes before your slot to allow you time to park, locate the site and get booked in. This will enable you to maximise the time you have with us.
What happens if we're late?
Please allow plenty time to travel, park and find us. Being late may result in us having to cut your booking short to prevent delaying later parties and we’d hate to do this, it will spoil your experience!
What is Escape the Room?
You and a team of friends are locked into the room of your choice. You have one hour to solve the clues, complete the puzzles to try and complete the mission. It’s like being in a movie or videogame, but in real life. Don’t worry if you fail, it's all part of the fun!
Do you really lock people inside a room?
No. Most of our games are mission rooms so the objective is not to escape the room. In the event that there is a securely locked exit in the game to be solved, the entry door to any game is left unlocked in case of emergency. Players may exit the experience at any time but please note that the clock will not stop and your teammates may need you.
What is the minimum/maximum team size for each game room?
Most games are available for teams of 2 – 8 players but some specify a minimum of 4. Each game has a recommended number of players for an optimum experience.
How long does it last?
Each experience lasts a total of around 1 hour and 45 minutes with the escape itself lasting for 1 hour. If you are using public transport, we recommend allowing 2 hours. Party packages will last for longer, depending on exactly what you’ve booked. Board Games Bookings last for the duration you have booked for. A single slot is one hour, each concurrent slot you book back to back adds 1 hour and 15 minutes to your time.
Can I take my personal belongings in with me to the escape room?
No personal belongings can be taken into the room including phones, wallets, bags and coats. Please note that smart watches, cam glasses, cameras and any other form of recording/communication equipment are also not permitted in the room. This list is not exhaustive. We do however offer secure locker facilities on site as part of your check-in experience. Items are left in our lockers at owners risk and we cannot accept any responsibility for any loss or theft.
Can I take photo or record video in the room?
You are forbidden to take any photos, videos or any form of recording in the room. All our games operate under a cloud of secrecy, as do other escape room companies, and we'd hate for you to spoil it for others. Please note that we have a zero tolerance policy on this and anyone in breach will be asked to leave and will have to surrender any footage captured. There will be a photo opportunity after your game which you can save and share from one of our social media sources.
What if I need the toilet during the game?
You are given plenty opportunity to use the facilities before the game starts but as mentioned above, in case of any emergency (even a bathroom one) you can leave the room. The clock will not stop on your game.
Can I take food and drink into the room?
Sealed bottles of water may be taken into the room at our discretion. There will be some available for purchase on site should you forget to bring one, subject to availability. We do not permit food in our escape rooms.
What should I expect from my game in terms of content?
All our games contain puzzles, strategy, logic, treasure hunting and some physical elements. There is something for everybody, from the Intellectual to the Adventurer. The MO of our games revolves around a virtual character with regular audio and video interactions to enhance your experience. We want you to be completely immersed in a different world! Alongside each escape room trailer video, there is a bar of information informing you what style of game it is and how tricky it will be to escape. Please note none of our games are horror but some are quite intense.
Games and puzzles aren't really my thing, will I enjoy it?
We understand that playing an escape room might not seem like fun to everyone. Don’t be confused – escape rooms are not just for geeks and gamers but are fast becoming the number 1 activity for both leisure fun and corporate team building. We have gone above and beyond to ensure that there is something for everyone in all of our games – from word puzzles to number games, physical challenges to treasure hunting, audio and video clues, code breaking and a whole lot more. On top of this, storyline is central to each of our games, and we want you to feel like you've been dropped right in the plot of a movie. Each game listing will give you more information about the content in each. Why not taste and see? The proof is in the pudding and you might be pleasantly surprised.
Is it scary?
None of our experiences are scary and both children and claustrophobics have played without incident. Some of our experiences are intense though, and racing against the clock can induce stress! If you are in any doubt, please contact us via our contact page or speak to a member of staff on site.
I am claustrophobic, can I play?
Yes. As mentioned above, the main door to the room is not locked for safety reasons and can be used at any time during the game. Some games are spacious rooms with good light and others have themes such as mine shafts with tunnels etc. Alongside the trailer for each game is a claustrophobia rating. Within each game there may be elements involving small spaces, but not all players are required to participate in these sections. Within seconds of entering our games you will be too busy having fun to worry. Our director David is quite claustrophobic and has taken this factor into consideration whilst designing the rooms and their contents.
What is the minimum/maximum team size for board game bookings?
Tables can be booked for 2-8 players. Each board game in the cupboard has the number of players on it, please make sure you've checked this before choosing your game.
Can I reserve a specific game?
When you book online, you may be asked for your first, second and third choice of games. We will do our best, subject to availability, to provide one of these 3. If you are looking for something specific, please check with us before booking.
Is there any help if we want to play something new?
Subject to availability of staff, we will do our best to give you a few minutes of guidance on a game to help you get set up. We can also point you to some helpful videos to help you get started too. We have free wi-fi on site which you can use to ask Google for help too!
Are you Disabled Friendly?
Whilst we design our escape games to be as inclusive as possible, not all games and areas offer disabled access.
As a first port of call, please ask for our accessibility statement which will be available when we open our escape rooms. If you still have any questions or requirements, please contact us to discuss further. Disability is close to our heart and we will endeavour to do what we can to accommodate you. We are hoping in the very near future to adapt our escape games to be deaf friendly.
Is it possible to access your facilities using a wheelchair?
Unfortunately our premises are on the first floor and there is currently no lift. The Escape Rooms we're opening in the first year will be on the second floor up a narrow staircase and thus it would not be possible to accommodate a wheelchair up there. There are chairs available in every game which can be sat on, some of which have castors.
The games we're opening in our second year will be on the first floor. The Board Games Hub is also on the First Floor. The main stairs are quite wide and thus it may be possible to carry someone up and then use the wheelchair once inside however, we unfortunately do not have a wheelchair friendly toilet at this time. Please see our Accessibility Statement for further information.
